Protecting the People
A business philosophy and a way of life

our history

John Morgan founded Morgan & Morgan in 1988. The firm’s first office was located in Orlando, Florida and was made up of three attorneys, two paralegals and a receptionist. By 1992, the firm expanded to include eight lawyers, 10 paralegals, and a sizable support staff as it began to focus its practice on medical malpractice. In 1995, the firm grew to include 25 lawyers and opened a second office in Tampa. By 1999, more than 40 attorneys and 40 paralegals were employed by the firm, which began to specialize in nationwide mass tort litigation.

In the past three decades, Morgan & Morgan has opened offices in Fort Myers, Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville, Tampa, West Tampa, Ocala, Daytona Beach, St. Petersburg, Winter Haven, Naples, Tallahassee, Kissimmee, Tavares, West Palm Beach, Sarasota, Lakeland, Deland, and The Villages. Outside of Florida, Morgan & Morgan has opened offices in Atlanta, Columbus, and Savannah, Georgia; Lexington, Bowling Green, Louisville, Paducah, and Prestonsburg, Kentucky; Birmingham and Mobile, Alabama; Jackson, Mississippi; Jonesboro, Arkansas; Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee; Brooklyn, New York; Boston, Massachusetts; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and New Orleans, Louisiana. The firm has grown to include nearly 350 attorneys, 305 paralegals and a support staff of about 2,000 people.

the morgan family

At Morgan & Morgan, we believe that family comes first. That’s why despite our size, Morgan & Morgan continues to be a family firm. John and Ultima met at law school, and continue to work together, along with their sons Matt, Mike and Dan, to help people every day.

our attorneys

At Morgan & Morgan, our attorneys have positioned themselves as trial lawyers who are not willing to accept inadequate settlements for their clients. While each case is different, our attorneys are not hesitant to go to court, even against prominent insurance companies and product manufacturers. In fact, unlike other law firms, our attorneys are encouraged to take their cases to trial.

our staff

Our firm owes its success to the wonderful people who work here. We have a support staff of nearly 2,000 across the country. These paralegals, case managers, case evaluation specialists, receptionists, engineers and developers make sure that our clients are taken care of every step of the way.

how we handle cases

The first line of communication between you and the firm will be with one of our receptionists who refer clients to the Case Control Department. There, one of over 100 full-time staff members will ask you some initial questions regarding your potential claim. The interview will generally last between 15 and 30 minutes.

The next step is to make an appointment for a sign-up interview. We are willing to work around your schedule. If it is inconvenient for you to meet us in one of our office locations, we will travel to your home, work, or the medical facility where you or your loved one has been hospitalized. Since we employ more than 25 full-time field service investigators, someone should be able to meet with you within a day or two. In situations where time is of the essence, we are often able to send an investigator out within 24 hours.

After you have completed the preliminary interview process, you will be directed to the appropriate department. For example, if you have been involved in a car accident, you will be referred to an attorney who deals in car accident disputes. Once your claim reaches the proper department, its validity will be evaluated by one of five department heads. The department head then decides which attorney within that unit is the best fit for your case. Typically, a client will be assigned an attorney, legal assistant, and a paralegal (for all workers’ compensation, first party, and negligence cases) within a week of initial contact.
