A woman has been charged after her role in an ATV accident that killed a 10-year-old girl in April. Kasey Dawn Green, 22, was driving a four-wheeler with a young Keanua Mackenzie Chambers riding as a passenger when she lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a fence and multiple trees. According to Examiner.com, neither were wearing helmets and Chambers was pronounced dead soon after the accident. Green has been charged with second degree homicide by vehicle, reckless conduct, operating an unregistered vehicle, no proof of insurance, failure to maintain lane, and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Green is the girlfriend of now-deceased Chambers’ older brother. The accident reportedly occurred on Jackson Chapel Road near the border of Polk and Floyd Counties. An off-duty fireman was on the scene and aided the child, and was joined quickly by Cedartown Rescue, EMS, Polk County Police, Georgia State Patrol, and Cave Spring Police. Chambers and Green were both brought to Floyd Medical Center, where Chambers was declared dead and Green was kept in stable condition.
