Man Wanted in Florida Arrested in Wyoming for Role in Deadly Crash

A man wanted in Florida for various offenses has been arrested in Wyoming for his role in a horrific deadly crash. According to the Casper Star Tribune, 24-year-old Daniel Rebarchek was speeding in his 2007 Chevy Tahoe when he smashed into the back of a 2005 Nissan Armada carrying eight family members to a family wedding in California. The crash led to the death of 6-year-old Dynasty X. Barcenas, as well as serious injuries for the other occupants of the car. Rebarchek was later arrested after fleeing the scene.

After being rear-ended, the SUV allegedly veered into the median and flipped one-and-one-half times, ejecting seven of the eight occupants. According to the Wyoming Highway Patrol, only the driver, 37-year-old Sourisack Sounthonevichith, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident and did not get ejected. 5-year-old Miguel Barcenas was airlifted to Children’s Hospital in Denver and is in fair condition; 12-year-old Destiny Abuzirwas was brought to Memorial Hospital of Carbon County, Wyo. and is in stable condition; and 8-year-old Edwin Guerema and 10-year-old Brendan Sounthonevichith were treated and released from Memorial Hospital. In addition, 32-year-old Elma Barcenas, 30-year-old Arsone Sounthonevichith (the father of the children), and 13-year-old Bryant Sounthonevichith were brought to Wyoming Medical Center.

For this most recent offense, Rebarchek has been charged in Wyoming with drunken driving, driving with a suspended driver’s license, interference, leaving the scene of an injury crash, and aggravated vehicular homicide. Rebarchek was wanted in Florida for multiple offenses, and has eluded arrest. He was wanted on a nationwide felony warrant issued by the Polk County Sheriff’s Department for fleeing to elude, burglary, and criminal mischief. In addition, Rebarchek was also wanted by the Miami Dade Police Department for driving under the influence.
