John Morgan, founder of the personal injury law firm, Morgan & Morgan, was recently named 5th on the Orlando Sentinel’s list of the “Top 25 Most Powerful People in Central Florida.” The names featured on the list over the last nine years have been impressive, with the likes of Walt Disney Presidents Al Weiss and Meg Crofton, Orange County Mayors Rich Crotty and Teresa Jacobs, and Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer, all making appearances. In the latest edition of the list, John has made significant strides, leaping from 16th in 2011 to 5th in 2012.
The list recognizes John’s accomplishments throughout Central Florida’s business, political, and legal landscape. Not only does John run his very own successful law firm, but he remains committed to his philanthropic endeavors. He has donated $2 million to the Second Harvest Food Bank and financially supported the Destiny Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to children in Central Florida who are below the federal poverty line.
Orlando Sentinel columnist Scott Maxwell has been compiling the list of the “Top 25 Most Powerful People in Central Florida” for the last nine years. In order to arrive at his final list, Maxwell arranges for a group of nine panelists, comprised of local business, political, and nonprofit leaders, to anonymously vote for who they believe to be most powerful. Maxwell then processes the voting results and organizes his list accordingly. Among the panelists this year were Roger Chapin, Vice-President of Mears Transportation; Leticia Diaz, Dean of Barry University Law School; Deirdre Macnab, President of Florida League of Women Voters; and Bryan Nelson, a Florida state representative.
