General Motors has recalled more than 240,000 large crossover SUVs due to an issue that could damage the rear seatbelt buckles. In some of the recalled SUVs, the seatbelt buckle can become damaged when the second row seat is pushed back into its regular position after being folded. If the seatbelt becomes damaged, it may not fully latch even if it appears to be securely buckled. According to General Motors, the seat belt may unlatch, not latch or appear jammed.
General Motors is instructing consumers with the recalled SUVs to submit their vehicles for a recall repair as soon as possible. Owners of the recalled SUVs were mailed letters which instructed them to schedule an appointment with their dealership to have their seatbelt buckles inspected and replaced, if necessary. SUVs involved in the recall include:
- GMC Acadia
- Saturn Outlook
- Chevrolet Traverse
- Buick Enclave
