The holidays are a time to remember those who are less fortunate than you. It offers you a chance to give back to the community and do your part to ensure everyone has the best holiday season possible.

At Morgan & Morgan, we have previously contributed to the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida, and this year we decided to donate to them once again. We are proud to announce that we managed to outdo last year, donating 576 pounds of food for the needy throughout the southwest Florida region.

Our Fort Myers employees brought in food items whenever they could, offering canned goods and various other non-perishables. The results speak for themselves: these 596 pounds were a whopping 191 pound increase from our contribution last year!

In doing this, we’ve helped to feed needy families in southwest counties like Lee, Charlotte, Glades, Hendry, and Collier, providing goods for the holiday season and beyond.

The Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida was founded in 1983 as the Lee County Food Cooperative, but changed its name later in honor of the late singer-songwriter Harry Chapin and his history of charitable work.

The food bank has partnered with over 150 agencies to help get direct service to people who need it the most. Some of the services the food bank offers include, soup kitchens, emergency shelters, and food pantries at churches. These services, as well as donations from people like us, allowed it to distribute 20.4 million pounds of food, or roughly 17 million meals.

We feel an importance and a duty to our community, and we’re proud that our commitment to the Fort Myers area has been able to help struggling families during the holiday season and into the new year. If you would like to help out as well, contact the Harry Chapin Food Bank of Southwest Florida.
