We’d like to congratulate Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., famed environmental activist and attorney of counsel at Morgan & Morgan, on the publication of his book Framed.
In its second month Framed is already on the New York Times Bestseller List. It’s no surprise. The book makes a compelling case that the imprisonment of Michael Skakel, Kennedy’s cousin, was an egregious miscarriage of justice.
Framed delves into the 1975 murder of Martha Moxley, the subsequent investigation that would gain new traction twenty years after the murder, and the persecution of Skakel, Martha’s the next door neighbor.
Moxley, Skakel, and Kennedy were 15 when she was murdered in Greenwich, CT. Skakel served 11 years in prison after he was found guilty in 2002. In 2013, a Connecticut Superior Court judge threw out his conviction, ruling that Skakel’s attorney had failed to give him an adequate defense. The state Supreme Court is currently weighing whether it will reinstate the original conviction.
Through a series of interviews with Skakel, other relatives, and detailed dissections of the trial and media coverage of the case, Kennedy presents a detailed defense of his cousin. He argues that investigators disregarded possible suspects.
Kennedy’s account of Skakel’s wrongful imprisonment, written with the meticulous care of an experienced attorney, has been hailed as captivating, powerful, and methodical by legal experts and authors alike.
This is not Kennedy’s first time on the New York Times Bestseller List. He has written several books on politics, three children’s books and has had articles published in many notable national newspapers and magazines.
