Our Very Own Kathryn Barnett Is Featured in Super Lawyers Hero Image

We are proud to announce that our very own Kathryn Barnett was featured in Super Lawyers Mid-South guide. Her outstanding accomplishments throughout her career and courageous spirit make her the perfect candidate for the magazine.

Super Lawyers is an attorney rating service made up of the country’s finest lawyers who have achieved peer recognition for their success in the field of law. Super Lawyers has a multiphase selection process for attorneys, with each candidate being evaluated on 12 indicators of peer recognition and professional achievement, according to the Super Lawyers website. Only 5 percent of attorneys are selected to Super Lawyers and Barnett definitely fits the bill.

For example, there’s the horrific case involving Tri-State Crematory in Noble, Georgia. In 2003, Barnett and a colleague filed a lawsuit against the company. There were 334 rotting corpses that were lying on the ground at the crematory, because the operator had stopped cremating bodies. The case became national news and Barnett was the lead trial lawyer. In the end, Barnett and her team were able to acquire a series of settlements totaling $120 million.

During her time at a previous firm, Barnett sued a doctor for malpractice after a young girl with spina bifida lost her sight. She was able to acquire a monetary reward that paid for a special audio computer and other equipment. “I’ve always been for the underdog,” Barnett told Super Lawyers.

Barnett is the managing partner of our Nashville office and has been a part of the firm since 2014. She has gone against insurance companies and big business for nearly 20 years. She has also won numerous verdicts for her clients with settlements over $1 million in consumer protection, class action, and personal injury cases.

John Morgan said this to Super Lawyers, about Barnett joining the team: “We wanted to open our Nashville with a person of prestige and accomplishment, and that was her.”

Barnett has garnered a reputation for caring about her clients. “I’m pretty fearless,” she told Super Lawyers. “I believe in what I’m doing, and I really believe in my clients and that they put so much trust in me. I’m not about to let them down.”

Barnett throws herself into each case, practicing with focus groups before explaining detailed information to jurors.

Barnett is a fearless go-getter who finds the time to help out her local community. She lectures on trial, complex litigation and related topics to other lawyers and to law students. She is the former president of Nashville’s Lawyer’s Association for Women, and continues to mentor young female attorneys.

She has received the Nashville Business Journal’s 2015 “Best of the Bar” award. She has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America, “Nashville’s Best Lawyers” every year from 2010 to 2017.

Barnett prides herself on staying fit and spending time with her family. She enjoys running half-marathons with her son and practicing taekwondo with her daughter.

Barnett isn’t the only one chosen as a Super Lawyer from our Nashville office. Attorneys Jason M. Gichner and Susan Neal Williams were also included. This is quite an achievement for our Nashville office! The inclusion of our attorneys underscores just how accomplished they are.

There is no doubt that Super Lawyers made a great choice to feature Barnett and to include Gichner and Williams. We’re so proud of them!
