Biography Overview

Bryan Smith has specialized almost exclusively in medical negligence for the past ten years. He is originally from Louisville, Kentucky, and he now practices in Morgan & Morgan’s Memphis office. After college and law school at the University of Kentucky, he was admitted to practice law in 1996. He began his career at a large defense firm, but ultimately couldn’t ignore the urge to “switch sides” and advocate for the injured. As a plaintiff’s lawyer, it soon became apparent that medical negligence was Bryan’s forte. He focused his practice on seeking justice for patients who have suffered severe or fatal injuries at the hands of medical providers and nursing homes.

In the past five years alone, Mr. Smith has recovered over $20 million in compensation for his clients and their families. He is often called upon to teach other attorneys - not only about general trial skills and litigation techniques, but also about some of the most daunting legal conundrums of health care jurisprudence. Mr. Smith is also a long-time, active member of the Tennessee Association for Justice (“TAJ”). He has served multiple terms on TAJ’s Executive Committee, kept faithful membership in the Circle of Advocates, and frequently represented the interests of TAJ’s clientele before lawmakers of the General Assembly in Nashville. He also serves as a board member for the Community Legal Center (“CLC), a non-profit organization that offers greatly discounted legal representation and mediation services to people of limited means in the Mid-South area.

As a doting husband and proud father, Mr. Smith never forgets that his clients are not just case numbers: they are human beings. This principle ensures that he will put forth his very best effort for every single client, no matter how large or small the case may be.
