Biography Overview

Bernie Mazaheri has dedicated his career to helping the legal needs of the disadvantaged. He has tried in excess of 30 jury trials. Mr. Mazaheri is academically and professionally involved with the Federal Labor Legislative Committee of the America Bar Association Labor & Employment Law Section, where he has given time as a contributing author to Mid-Winter reports for the subcommittees of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA) and the Uniform Services Employment & Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA), as well as actively participating with the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA).

Mr. Mazaheri represents the victims of labor before administrative, federal and state agencies and tribunals. Mr. Mazaheri seeks to focus on collective and class action causes of action. Currently, Mr. Mazaheri has cases pending before civil rights’ agencies, the Department of Labor and various federal courts throughout the country.

Mr. Mazaheri is passionate about the family based act passed during the New Deal known as the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938. The FLSA protects families, by limiting the workweek of the most vulnerable employees to forty (40) hours and mandating overtime pay to these employees. In essence, the American custom of a forty hour workweek and the engrained understanding of overtime pay are derived directly from the FLSA.

Mr. Mazaheri subscribes to President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s declaration that “Necessitous men are not free men.” Many American employees are unable to provide for their families due to corporations terminating them without just cause. Similarly, many workers who are deprived of living wages are unable to be free. So, Mr. Mazaheri represents hard working people that have fell victim to corporate greed.
